4 Week Beginner Course
Had a Climbing Taster? Tried climbing and want a bit more direction? Our Beginner Courses are the perfect next step!
Learn skills and techniques that will really let you get the most out of bouldering. Guided by one of our experienced coaches you will learn:
- Route selection, what to look out for, playing to your strengths, and developing your weaknesses
- Climbing techniques, covering basic footwork and body positioning, to complex techniques aimed at saving energy and delivering power in the right places
- Footwork, because using your feet is about more than just putting your foot on a hold
- Route reading, as an extra to route selection, learning to really read a route can make a crucial difference to your climbing
- Top tips for success
You will also, over the course of the four 60 minute sessions, meet other like-minded climbers all starting out just like you wanting to learn the basics and get the thrill and buzz that climbing can bring.
Don’t have climbing shoes yet? Hire equipment is included in the cost of the course, we’ll even teach you about correctly fitting your shoes, to make it easier to find the perfect shoes for you!

Learn to Climb (Roped)
Learn to Climb is a 3 week comprehensive introduction to indoor climbing. After a tour of the centre you will learn about; basic climbing technique, equipment and top rope climbing.
At the end of the course you can become a member of Rock Over Climbing and climb unsupervised* on our roped walls!
Private beginner courses are available please contact us for more details.
*All participants are assessed by the instructor for safe practice. You can only become an unsupervised climber once passed by your instructor. Our staff may recommend you have extra instruction before becoming unsupervised. This is just make sure that you and anyone you climb with stay as safe as possible.
3 x 2 hour sessions over 3 weeks. Please arrive 15 minutes prior to your start time.
The safety briefing and putting on a harness are included within the time allocated.

Once you have got the hang of our bouldering walls, you may want some help to take it to the next level. That may be by learning new skills and techniques, mastering all the problems in one circuit, or stepping up a gear and moving onto the next level of difficulty. Whatever you goal is, our coaching sessions are designed to help get you there. All adult coaching is done on a relaxed and friendly basis by our team of professional coaches. These are one to one sessions aimed at giving you the best instruction possible; the coaches will listen to what you want to achieve, and tailor the coaching to suit your needs and goals, covering areas such as:
