Each problem will require using a variety of different tooling techniques and axe wielding cunning , Simon will be making sure that each month there will be a wide variety of different grades for complete beginners right the way through to the super hardcore!
Saturday 3rd December 2011
Saturday 7th January 2012

Weekly Dry Tooling Evenings
Starting on Wednesday 9th November we are running Dry Tooling evening sessions from 20:00-21:45. These sessions are aimed at absolutely anyone, if you already know what you are doing then just come on down, fill out a Dry Tooling registration form and away you go. If you are a beginner then you will require a short induction to explain the basic principles and safety aspects of Dry Tooling.
Entry - £1.00 on top of your normal entry fee
Axe Hire - £2.50
Helmet/Goggle Hire - £1.00
Full Kit Hire - £3.00
If you would like to have a go, we do have a very small amount of equipment for hire but it is much better if you bring your own. The kit that is required is listed below:
- Ice axes (see below for details)
- Helmet
- Goggles/safety glasses
- Gloves
- If you are top roping then leashes or a spinner leash are essential
Ice Axes:
If you wish to bring your own axes then they will need to be modified slightly in order to comply with our health and safety rules.
- They must be a modern technical axe (no walking axes!)
- The adze and hammer need to be covered or removed, the photo below shows how we do this cheaply and easily with a tennis ball.
- The spike at the bottom must be covered (this helps to protect our mat if you drop your axe)
